Hi, I'm just wondering if any Bord Gáis customers have received the government electric credit on their account yet?

I thought it was supposed to be applied on the 1st of November..

Haven't got mine yet but, its from 01/11/22. Friends of mine with Electric Ireland told me there's was in the account on Saturday.

The last government credit with Bord Gáis hit my account after about 7 days I think so, expecting it later in the week.

Applied from, there's no guarantee it will go in on that date.

Not applied to either of mine yet.

"The credits will be applied to customer's accounts in three payment periods:

    • the first occurring between 1 November 2022 – 31 December 2022
    • the second occurring between 1 January 2023 – 28 February 2023
    • the third occurring between 1 March 2023 – 30 April 2023.

The first instalment (€183.49 excl. VAT) will be applied to customer's accounts in November. This equates to a benefit of €200 after VAT."

No not yet but I did get the last one some months ago which left me in credit by 35 Euro which was great so I am hopefully of the same again whenever this one comes about.

They are just catching up on the others and their unit rates are still lower than some of the bigger players. I think Energia have the highest standard rates

Here are the current standard urban 24hr rates including online billing / direct debit discounts

    Energia 47.6,

    SSE 47.35c

    Bord Gais 47.25c

    Electric Ireland 40.9cc

Prepay power (from 1st dec) 41.54c

It wasn't there this morning but I checked again just now (Thu. 3rd, 13:30) when I saw this thread and it has just landed.

Not yet for me - my next payment is due 09/11/22 so don't expect it will be in time to prevent them applying for this month's DD now anyhow, so not too pushed yet.

Usually they send the payment file about 10 days ahead, so even if the credit was applied this week, it probably would not have stopped the payment.

Mine just came through today, got €200 credited, I thought it was supposed to be €183.47?

If your account is paid up to date, it will show as a credit balance of €200.

When you get your next bill, it will be on the bill as a credit of €183.47 against your usage charge, and VAT added on to the net amount.

Got my €200 credit to my Bord Gais account - however I am level pay, and currently hundreds in credit.

BG made no move to alter my Level Pay amount, so I contacted them on chat pointing out that they know I'll be getiing €600 credit total so wouldn't they reduce my LP by at least €50/month. The agent actually knocked €100/month off, fair play to them.

To be fair, BG will always alter the LP amount if asked, but for obvious reasons if you don't query them the balance will always creep up in their favour.

LP is a bit of a joke, I'm not sure how they work it out I had racked up about 500 euro in their favour and still massive effort to get them to reduce. Wouldn't do again deposit way to go

I’ve not received my €200 credit yet, BG said they are investigating, any one else didn’t receive?

also my 1st gas bill with them was issued and it covers 21 days only why is that?

Does BG send notification to submit meter reading?

    thanks in advance

I've used every non-prepay supplier in the market except SSE (and including Iberdrola, now gone) and I've never been promoted for or asked for a gas meter reading - except when changing supplier.

Outdoors and modern, might be different if you've an indoor one or very old one with no remote options (not sure if GNI use those).

If you are a new gas customer or recently changed, I could see there being complications in payment.
