Do my veneers look bad?

Got veneers on front 2 teeth and bonding on lateral incisors about 8 months ago.

I have had time to adjust to them and am thinking they do not look great.

Potentially look too opaque, bulky and too shiny. Also not sure about the shape. The bonding on the laterals looks a bit see through compared to the veneers.

Cosmetics can be subjective. Also factor in that it's nigh on impossible to accurately & uniformly match 3 totally different materials - porcelain (central incisors), composite (lateral incisors), & enamel (remainder of natural teeth).

That said, some clinicians have a better "eye" than others, & also those that specialise in cosmetic work (prosthodontists) tend to achieve the best outcome.

Chat to your dentist about what improvements/modifications might be possible. Seek a 2nd opinion if you wish also.

Of far greater concern should be the red swollen gums in between the unrestored lower teeth- floss floss floss, & see your dentist/hygienist asap for a cleaning & to assess your gum health.

I pointed out about the contrast between the veneers and the bonding and he said the only thing that can be done is to get veneers on the laterals.

They look ok to me, depends on the starting situation. There are levels of acceptable and what you find acceptable will be a personal choice. But if you have very high levels of expectation you need to see a dentist or specialist that can achieve that level. If you dont like the tooth shape or profile you will need to have them redone, and at your expense.

That's my problem..I had a very high expectation of what it would turn out like. Something just seems off with how it looks to me. If another dentist could guarantee a better result I would pay the money. Problem is finding that dentist. I am based in Belfast.

Got a second opinion and the dentist thought it would be better to replace the central veneers and do veneers on the laterals at the same time as they will not match otherwise. They thought the veneers I have are good though they would like it to be slightly less bulky at the top. They thought the bonding on the laterals was not working as you could see the point where my deal tooth ends and bonding starts.

Maybe you're a bit of a perfectionist? But don't see anything wrong at all.

If this is your only worry, you're grand. They look good.

Yes I'm a bit of a perfectionist which is frustrating at times. Don't think you can see clearly from the photos what the issue is. The translucency of the point where my real tooth ends and bonding starts just spoils everything a bit. But as you say maybe I'm just a perfectionist.

Just to be careful the focus doesn't continually shift& morph into something bigger & bigger.

I recently watched the interview between Ronaldo& Piers Morgan. The former is a multi millionaire with access to the best specialists money can buy, & there is still a difference between his upper teeth (all porcelain)& his lower teeth (all natural).
