My teenage daughter has her heart set on a MacBook for Christmas as her own laptop is on the way out.

She'll use it for basic school work, movies and might dip her toe into some beginner programming stuff.

I'm thinking 8GB Ram with an M1 processor and 256GB ssd will be sufficient.

    Any thoughts?

No need to look beyond the cheapest one. Macbooks are worth the investment as years later they still run well unlike Windows machines.

    Thanks,

Yes she has an iPhone and an ipad.

I am getting fleeced but she generally doesn't ask for much, so I'm ok with pushing the boat out a bit.
