Is there a visa system in place that allows skilled agricultural machinery operators and truck drivers to work for 3-4 months or longer?.

I believe it existed pre Covid and any accurate information on this would be appreciated.

There's a bunch of temporary visas that allow people to work in agriculture (but also in other sectors) and there's another bunch that are specifically focussed on agricultural workers. But they tend to be quite specific and restrictive — e.g. the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility scheme ticks all your boxes, but is only available to citizens of specified Pacific island states. You aren't Fijian, by any chance?

There's a short-stay specialist visa available which will let you work in Australia for up to six months, but you need to have specialised skills, knowledge or experience that can't reasonably be found in the Australian labour market. I would think you might need to talk to a migration agent to see if truck-driving or operating agricultural machinery have any chance of being accepted for the purposes of this visa. It's called the subclass 400 visa, if you are making enquiries about it.

And of course there's the old favourite, the Working Holiday Visa.

Go working holiday visa and work out your next step when your here. harvest (for cereals) goes from Sept to Dec from North qld all the way to Victoria. Farmers, truckies, grain handlers all screaming out for people and sponsorship won't be an issue.
