    This was taken in the grandly titled "Port of Clare" in Clarecastle, which is now a quiet parking spot by the river Fergus with a few rowing boats.

    I was down there looking for herons, egrets, etc. But there were none about. As it was mid September, I wasn't expecting to see many swallows, but a small group appeared, feeding over the water. I got this juvenile (it hasn't grown it's distinctive tail feathers yet) belly-on as it turned in front of me. 30 frames per second on the Sony A1 gives you a fighting chance of getting a perfect pose like this, even with such a fast bird. Lens was the Tamron 150-500 at only 306mm, but the photo is cropped. The shot reminds be of the butterflies laid out in the cases in the Natural History Museum.
