If I am not in bdgp, would I be mad buying heifers with star index. Is there just going to be a premium on them due to being in that scheme and I better avoid . Have no interest in being in BDGP. Have a limousine bull.

If you're going into the new suckler scheme next year, you'll need cows with stars. If you're not going to go into next year's scheme, then there's probably no point spending extra for heifers with stars. It's often the case that the heifer without a star rating is the better animal.....

I like the concept of the star system but it isnt weighed right to more beef genetics. I wouldnt be buying a heifer based on stars alone but more so on its breeding.

My best price for LM weanlings sold this week both 380kg was 1300e & 1180e. March born and both of 2 star cows. They did rings around all my "5 star" cows.
