Will Parent's Benefit be backdated?

I left it a little late applying for my Parent's Benefit. Due to take the 7 weeks shortly. Does anybody know will it be backdated / get a lump sum for the missed weeks due to late application? I am putting the date of leave on the application form of course, but just wondering how this works. I know I was late on applying for the Maternity Benefit (I'm very disorganised clearly!) but I got a lump sum for that.
