Going out for drinks?

So I just turned 18 in May and got a job as well as went out to a bar for the first time (was quite sheltered as a kid). It was a great night and made a few female friends but the cost was insane. Drinks were reasonable but the taxi was €90!

Do most people who go out to Dublin but live outside the county rent hotels? How do you keep the cost down

Could you use a mixture of public transport and taxi to make the taxi journey shorter?

Is sharing the taxi with friends from your area an option?
