it started making a higher pitched noise than usual a few days ago, so i popped the cover off hoping it was just an airlock; but was presented with this. would this be the brushes?

i've since been told that the black dust is fairly normal, but that the bearings may be on their way out.

Check the filter (bottom left, white plastic knob/nut) for debris.

cheers, that's next on the list. i've already bled it, doesn't seem to have been air in the system.

i've been quoted €180 for a repair (supply and fit of a new pump) - not sure if i'd have the chops to just order the part and replace it myself.

that's the guts of €200 less than supply and fit of a whole new unit.

Rule of thumb: motor gets noiser = bearings

Motor gets quieter = brushes or motor is slowly dying.

The motor is definitely fecked. Cleaning the filter won't be of any use. The Shower itself looks like it's dying of old age. Regardless of the actual age there is 10 to 15 years worth of use on this already. This model was discontinued in 2016. It will be no longer supported by Triton from next year. You can replace the motor for close to €200 supplied & fitted or get a new Triton T90SR for under €400 supplied & fitted.

When trying to decide between replacing the shower or repairing its always worth remembering that with the new shower you will also get a new head, hose and pole

cheers, it's about 8 years old, only two of us in the house so generally only used twice a day.
