Anyone with 123,.ie have claim on their insurance, i have no claims step back & no claims protected on my insurance . i had a claim it was 50/50 i had to pay for mine & they had to pay for theirs. I also had a retracted claim, the person withdrew his claim for damages for his car after talking to him cause there was no damage done to my car & witnesses said i did something i didnt do.

How did my no claims bonus go from 8yrs to 0yrs if i had those 2 protections in place & u are allowed with them to make one claim in a year without it affecting your no claims. Reteracted claim wasnt a claim sure they didnt have to pay out cause the person cancelled it.

123.ie is a broker company.Who is your insurance company.8 years to zero is a bit much even if you had 2 claims.Ask 123.ie for a statement saying the retracted claim is closed and that the pay out was nil.If 123 won't provide it or claim the ins co is working on it then go direct to your insurance company after a reasonable time. Then take your business elsewhere.

NCB protection isn't what you think it is.

You will not get a clean NCB cert to go shop around other companies as it would be factually untrue for your current insurer to issue a cert and not reveal an open or paid claim against you.

You are still obliged to inform any future insurer you are looking for a premium from of claims against you for at least 5 years, not doing so would be a reason to cancel or invalidate any policy you get or any claims made against one.

All NCB protection or step-back does is mean that your current insurer will honour the NCB level regardless of the claim or step-back as per their offer.

Of course what this actually means is rather fuzzy as there is zero openness or accountability for what and how premiums are calculated so while they may be "honouring" your protected NCB they may also, entirely co-incidentally, recalculate your base rate by 300% and there is nothing you can do about it.

You still have your NCB with them, and your discount is protected. Your claims free years will be 0 however. This is how it went down with 123.ie when I had a claim. I had a fully protected NCB which meant I kept the 50% or 60% bonus, however on my NCB cert under "years claim free under this policy", it was marked down to ZERO because technically that is correct. It meant I could not move insurance companies for several years. My premium also went up after the claim, despite the discount but it was not too bad.
