    Hey - we have oil central heating with a very simple timer switch. No thermostat. We're considering an upgrade to a Hive system and I'm trying to get clarity on how we'd replace the Flash Immermat with the Hive Receiver.

    This is our timer;

    Wiring from the manual;

    The Hive wiring guide is;

    Can someone help clarify how these existing wires map to the Hive Receiver? Thanks for any guidance!

    Did you ever get an answer to this?

    I want to do the same thing

    Usual disclaimer, this assumes its wired correctly to start with. Any electrical work should be conducted by someone with the correct qualifications, this change is likely not legally requiring a RECI but if you are any way unconformable with this get a professional in.

    Tie all the Neutrals together at the Hive

    L input wire to L on hive (permanent live)

    Link L on the hive to common on the hive, this provides the switched line to the boiler

    Heating ON the L output wire

    Heating OFF - leave unconnected

    Tie all earths to the earth connection

    Note in this case if the temperature is reached this will switch off the boiler even if the hot water is still cold, need a fairly significant upgrade, two/three port valves etc to separate the rads and tank and dual channel hive unit if you want full control, that could be very tricky to achieve depending on pipework

    Looking to do something similar, did you try above and did it work OK?

    Any tips?

    Cheers

    Ended up going with Tado, their customised instructions provided a step by step on how the wiring mapped across for our specific timer.

    Good to hear, I was looking at tado as well. Where did you find customised instructions for above timer? Thanks for your help on this!

    If you install their app and begin installation instructions, you'll be able to select the Flash Immermat.

    We have been having some issues with Tado though. On a few occasions when the heat has been on, it has lost connection and left the heat switched on. Ended up waking at 4am to a 26 deg C house. Not great, especially if it happened when away.
