Hi Looking for some help please.

Bought a 131 Nissan Qashqai about a year ago. 1.5L DCI. Diesel.

Started acting up after about 10 months. Very slow to start like trying to start a car on a cold morning even if it wasn't.

Anyway was diagnosed with low compression in one of the cylinders.

My mechanic advised that it would be cheaper and easier to replace the engine rather than strip down

repair and rebuild which I have been told could cost up to around 6K.

I'm trying to source an engine but the specs are melting my mind. From what I can ascertain the 131 is a J10 model with the 132 being a J11.

Engine also needs to have a continental injection system.

I think its an 81Kw 110 HP. VIN is SJNFCAJ10U273539

A seperate mechanic told me its very hard to source these engines and its a big job even if they can.

Paid 9.5k a year ago so am pretty pissed.

Could anyone advise on how to find out the engine code as I think this is vital ? Just any advice/opinions in general.

I don't have a lot of funds, am paying this car off through credit union still.

    Am in the Cork area.

    Thank you in advance.

I haven’t got much of an opinion on weather engine replacement is the right thing to do, but if you do go down that route the engine number is on your logbook which should contain the engine code

J10 just means old model Qashqai, the one that ran from 07 to 14. J11 is the second generation that launched before Christmas 2013 and went on sale in 2014. Its not an engine code.

i would also get a second opinion from a different mechanic.
