Google Wifi with Sky router/modem

    Hi,

Apologies if this has been covered before but I'm hoping that someone can help me with this.

We have a 100mpbs Sky router and modem but the coverage in our house is terrible and degrades significantly upstairs where my wife works from home. I had seen good reviews of the Google mesh wifi system and was wondering if this might solve the problem so that I could have a second or even a third wifi extender in different parts of the house. However when I looked at them on the Google store, it says:

If you currently have a modem/router combo, it’s recommended that you return it to your provider in exchange for a standard modem. You can also enable bridge mode with a single Google Wifi point that is not part of a mesh system.

Does this mean that it won't work with my current sky modem/router?

I'm not quite sure what the piece about bridge mode means and how it does or doesn't affect me!

Any ideas? Has anyone used Google wifi with a sky modem/router before?

    Thanks!

As a follow up, has anyone actually returned their sky modem/router combo for one that is a modem only? I'd rather find out from someone on here as I already spent an hour on the phone with them about a separate issue today and my head is wrecked 😅
