Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Help - Blocked central heating?

    Hi 👋

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

90's build with GFCH. Boiler replaced as part of refurb 6 years ago. Boiler used year round to heat water. No issues until recently turned on rads for heating and no heat at all in downstairs rads. Heating upstairs and water OK. Had Bord Gais tech look at boiler - all OK. Had a 'small job' plumber in and couldn't fix. Probably blockage he says and need system flushed. Contacted a power flushing company and said they don't want the job as can't guarantee they can fix it. Am stuck and don't know what to do next.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Well obviously not all ok. You need a propper RGI out to diagnose the problem. It could be a motorized valve not working, or a circulating pump. When booking a tech, tell him on the phone what's wrong, because it seems that some of these guys won't even look beyond the boiler casing.

Thanks - the Bord Gais guy was an RGI but told us we need a plumber. He said everything in the boiler itself was working ok. Paid €99 for that!

That's why you need to tell them what you need when booking. Some plumbers are also RGI's. Now that your boiler checks out you might get away with a plumber who isn't RGI, but once again you need to explain what you need. Some don't like to do electrical troubleshooting....if that is what it turns out to be.
