Is this a normal turnaround time for a passport with a new name on it?

Short version is that I recently had my name changed. Had a double barrelled last name and dropped my father's because, well he's a w@nker. Had that done through the Central Office of the High Court. Now the passport through proof of usage.

    Thanks

I'd have my name changed if it was W@nker too.

Average turnaround for a "complex" renewal is 15 working days, which would be into 4 weeks. So yours doesn't seem far off that.

Just an update on this in case anyone decides to do something similar with their passport. The new passport was dispatched today, which is nuts. Thought I'd be waiting three weeks.

I don’t actually have a passport; you need one to get a bank account now. Sure I’m less Irish than the non-Irish themselves

It's good to have this evidence, but I don't think it or any thread like this could establish what is "normal". Too small a sample out of the volume of passports being processed, and individual circumstances could influence the time taken. I suspect they would err on the side of being cautious about dates, and would often come in earlier.

Not connected to the cohort who are putting a new name, but I know of one "ordinary" case, where the renewal was turned round in one day.
