Homebase in Limerick are closing down and have Artic pipe freezer for just over a fiver. This allows a 15mm pipe be frozen for over 30min, allowing a fitting be replaced, or a leak fixed. Professional plumbers may not approve, I don't know, but it has helped me with a couple of tricky situations, over the years.
