Audioengine 5+ hissing

Hi, I am wondering if anyone can give advice on this. I have a set of Audioengine 5+ powered speakers. When they are at 1-3 on volume, they hiss but when I turn them up to 10, the hissing disappears. What could be going on with them and what can I do about it?
