Taxi to airport on a Saturday night

    Hi All,

I'm going to be in Dublin next Friday night for a flight out very early on Saturday morning. Realistically I'd need to be at the airport at 2:30am as I've bags to drop and just to calm my own nerves about potential queues or delays etc.

Does anyone have a guestimate/know am I likely to get a taxi in Dublin on a Saturday night around 2am via FreeNow?

I would be travelling from Cabra to the airport. I'm just worried that I'm taking a big risk by just hoping a taxi will accept the fair at that time when any other Saturday this year that I've been out in Dublin I've never been able to get a taxi to bring me to Cabra.

If anyone has any alternative ideas I'd be delighted to hear them too, just want to make sure I actually am able to get to the airport! thanks

Freenow has the option to book a taxi later by setting a date & time.

Also try local taxi companies in the area.

The taxi drivers can get 100% of the fare if they pick up from the street. If they use Freeview or taxi company they loose money. There's little hope of a pre booked taxi coming at 2am on a Saturday morning unless you know the driver.

Where are you flying to? 2:30am is crazy! Unless you absolutely have to check in bags, I dont bother any more...

Ring local cab company and book the day before. Drivers can ignore apps but local firms tend to want to keep customers happy.

Some local companies are very organised and have proper booking systems in place.

The airport is much quieter now the summer peak is over.

The queues in the airport are pretty much back to normal. Absolute worst is 30 minutes at the moment, and from experience it takes just over 20 minutes even when it looks terrible. For a 06:30 fight, I'm back to 05:00 arrival at the airport. What time is your flight at?

Aside from that your taxi issue. Your best bet is to do a search on Free Now and walk down to a main road (if you feel safe enough) and hail one there. There will be plenty heading in towards town. In the meantime if someone accepts the fare on Free Now you have two options and will get you on your way.

If you put your destination in you won't have any problem. Usually all that's around at two am is people who have been out in the pub.Fares going to the airport are generally sober and hassle free so the job will be snapped up.
