Concrete posts and chain link

Have a old chain link fence that the council put up at least 40 years ago. Hedge grow up through it and wire wasn’t great. Have most of it cleared out but left the posts in place.

3 or 4 posts need replacing. What’s the best way of putting them in? Auger? Digger?

Should I go chainlink again since the posts are there for it? Is it awkward to do?

Any posts I ever put in were dug by hand…. The chain link is handy enough. You need to strain at least four lines of plain wire, and tie them to the posts first. There’s no straining at all needed on the chain link wire. Just roll out a short section at a time and pull it hand tight as you go along. Tie it to the lines of plain wire with a lighter wire, then roll out another section, and keep going like that. The tying the chain link to the plain wire is probably the worst part of the whole job….not difficult, just time consuming.

If you google potato bag ties and the tool for it , you can get different types of ties, some that are coated and are weather proof .

They are very handy for tie ing the wire quickly

The green pvc coated 4foot chain link has nearly doubled in price since last year.was 100 eur o for 25 mtr roll now 185 .hog rings and hog ringer is tool to tie on chain link.well worth it for approx 20 euro
