Hit by a driver without insurance a few years ago. 100% their fault and this was acknowledged and accepted by insurance. Car was in bad shape but was repaired. Was dealt with through MIBI. Until now have stayed with the insurance company the car was insured with when hit.

Before this accident it was 10+ years of no claims (never had a claim ever). Went to move insurance and am told that the NCD only goes back to the time of this accident, because they view this accident as a claim even though it was 100% the fault of the other driver.

Is this accurate? This seems crazy to me that the innocent part gets messed about like this and loses their NCD when the accident wasn't their fault at all.

The AA does state: "Even if you have an accident that wasn't your fault – you're hit by an uninsured driver, or your car gets stolen – you could lose your NCB, and your premium could even go up at renewal."

    This seems like BS...
