Hi there, just enquiring about marrige tax credits, myself and the other half are getting married later in the year. I have done some research (expecting to calculate some savings after marrige) to see if there will be any benefit from getting married tax wise.

Would I be right in thinking that we wont have any tax benefit to getting married as tax cutoff is €73600, Im earning 41K per year and other half earns 47?

Any clarification on this would be really appreciated.

The 37,600 is referred to as the SRCOP, not the "tax credit cut-off".

If both spouses earn over 36,800, then yes, you are correct, there is no tax benefit to marriage.

Ye are both using your full SRCOP / tax band, so there is no unused tax band to allocate to the other spouse.

    Thanks for the clarification,

May be of benefit in the future if either of us stop working for what ever reason etc.
