Wanted: Beginner road bike

Hi all,

Want to join a club so looking to upgrade from my current Merida hybrid to some form of entry level road bike! I'm 6'3 so probably looking at a 58/59cm frame.

Second hand is perfect as not looking to break the bank but wanted to get some recommendations/tips from forum members?

It really all comes down to how much you are willing to spend, and what you expect to get for that budget.

For example, do you want a disc brake bike, or are you happy with a rim brake. Stick in a rough budget and you’ll get more options here I’d say. At 6’3”, you’ll need at least a 58cm, but you wouldn’t be out of place on a 60cm either.

While I agree with bloke that this would be a very nice 1st bike, I’m leaning towards keeping it now, but I do have a much more affordable wilier I built up as a winter/turbo bike in the adverts, which, given how much I will get out over winter, is a total luxury!
