Anybody here do a complete lifestyle change later in life. Say 45+. Also, anybody do this with a family in tow.

How was your life before ? How did it work out ? Any regrets ? ...

Examples:

Live off grid.

Emigrate to an off the beaten track country.

Complete career change.

Become a religious minister.

Come out later in life.

I'm planning a big one but I need to figure out how to win the lotto first.

Does leaving your wife for someone you were car sharing to work with count? I actually know two stories like that and one story of a man who came home and found his wife having a cup of tea in the kitchen with her boss and just knew something wasn't right.

I changed from a person with a bright outlook, trying to walk the well beaten and expected path of job, mortgage, marriage, kids, pets, etc. Realised before the marriage part that I hated my life and turned into an unsocial stoner. I won't say I'm "Happy", but I'm not as unhappy as I was when I tried to be "normal". Like LER, waiting for that lotto win to turn me into a rich version of an unsocial stoner.

For me 45 marked the fullscale introduction of the black leather gear in earnest.

Memories of watching myself, through a wall length mirror, being pegged senseless by my son's rugby teammate's bored underphucked mother in a disused rental apartment in Rialto, was a defining life changing moment for me.

I have never looked back really since then.
