Hi all, I got a root canal done on a top molar tooth, the last one back before wisdom tooth about 3 years ago. I then got a false implant over the tooth that was left. All good and looked the part only twice it came off and luckily I didn’t swallow it either time. So went back twice to get it stuck or cemented back . Now last week I was eating and put it popped again but seems to have brought the little stub of a tooth I thought I had. Although I may not have had a stub of a tooth I can’t be sure, but examining the implant it looks like it brought some along with cement. Anyway I’m really annoyed that this has happened again. All the way through the episode of this tooth I have never experienced any pain and naturally with the root canal surgery done I have no pain with this false implant falling out. Really wondering should I bother going back and getting anything done with it at this stage at all . Any advice ?

It’s a crown, not an implant. If it repeatedly falls out, chances are there is no longer enough tooth remaining underneath to securely hold it in position. Your dentist will discuss the options with you to either recement the crown and hope for the best, or look at the alternatives to replace the tooth.

ah thanks, i presume your a dentist? My main worry is not about having the tooth or not at this stage, its only infection im worried about. I will be heading to a new dentist in my local town now next month for a cleaning and check up. to be honest i really dont have money to spend on getting this tooth right again, it cost me a lot already for the root canal operation and the crown. my teeth i was told are in good condition as i keep fillings done when i need to and try to get a cleaning done every 12-18 months, and i would do the usual good hygene bar flossing which i can never get hang of , but i do use corsydol mouthwash which im told is a good powerful mouthwash twice a day
