Solar Inverters + Comparability

    Hi everyone,

I am really struggling to make heads of tails of all reviews so far and I was hopping to get some advice here.

I am looking into installing 20 400w panels on the south side of the roof. There is no shading at all on that end so it should be quite efficient in terms of solar production. I want to go with a Hybrid 6kw Inverter and a 10kw battery pack.

My main issue is the brand selection. I am reading great reviews of Solis but bad app. Great data app for SolarEdge but not reliable (failure rate is higher then with Solis). Huawei wouldn't suit my needs as it is very brand focused so I would have to take all from them.

What is your experience? How did you make a selection? Any advice would help. Thank you!

Have pretty much the set up you are describing with 8.16kW of panels feeding a Solis inverter with, now, 10kWh of battery.

Find the Solis Cloud app fairly comprehensive and the desktop version has most of the details when you drill down into it.

Has been running since Dec and very happy with it.

Check the voltage of those panels, 20 seems a lot all South facing, every Inverter has a maximum input and you can't exceed it

When you are mentioning Solis app - does it support MacOS? What do you find most useful with it? Any limitations? Do you use optimisors?

Yeah I was thinking of future proofing my set up as I have an electric car and would like to charge it like that as well... My primary selection for panels for now is REC Alpha Pure 400W panels. I've read some good reviews on those. Would you have any other recommendation? What inverter are you using and what is your set up? How come you went with that option?

I think panels are panels and I go for the ones that max my available space. I've an array of JA Solar 410w and Jinko 455w, decision criteria down to best balance of panel efficiency, use of space, max out inverter capacity and finally cost.

I can see that there is a lot of different sizes. Any inverter to avoid?
