Any idea of year(s) of manufacture??, I bought it (still perfect) somewhere between 1975 & 1980?

But not one of the really good ones. The really early ones had an aluminium frame and foot plate. Then they went to aluminium frame and steel footplate before finally going to all steel like yours. There are at least a dozen models that all vary in one way or another.

Checking for more info I found this site. I haven't checked yours and suspect you need to go look at small details to be sure but you should find what you want here https://h-frame.weebly.com/79-001-timeline.html

Edit> Cancel all that, I was too stupid to spot that you don't really have a workmate in the true sense of the word. The 400 really only has the workmate jaws with none of the other original Ron Hickman features.

Wake me up when it's all over.

Ron Hickman of Lotus Elan fame, its no wonder my inferior model could only support my VW Beetle air cooled engine.
