I read hard water can cause build up but i do not have hard water, can soft water cause it

A child a bar of soap in it by accident and i left it it because i thought the water would melt it, could it have stuck to the pipes narrowing them?

can i use vinegar and baking soda in the toilet pipes?

    Any other ideas?

Is the bowl filling up when you flush?

If so it's likely that the soap bar has created a logjam and will have to be removed.

OK how come it flushes OK sometimes if there is a logjam. Flushed OK now for instance. Yes bowl fills when it blocks and i have to use a plunger or sometimes it runs off after a few seconds

i am not actually sure what logjam means in this context. is it just blockage

The bar of soap is lodged in such a way that it will only cause an issue when a certain amount of material is flushed,

Say for example only liquid is flushed the. There is a good chance that it will rise slightly in the bowl but drain almost instantly.

If however a large amount of material ( solid waste/tissue/water) all attempts to flow past the bar of soap is narrowing the with of pipe available.

In this scenario what happens is the toilet backs up temporarily and fills the bowl.

As the material makes its way past the obstacle the bowl drains.

Your danger over time is that some tissue and other materials may attach to the soap further constricting the flow.

Yo will have to remove the soap somehow.
