Matching stain on a handrail

We got the attic converted and time to paint the new spindles and handrail to match the existing, which has white spindles and a stained handrail. Is it possible to match the stain or will that just break my heart/cost a lot in trialling stains on test pieces? If not possible to match, is it possible to strip back the…

Is it possible to match the stain or will that just break my heart/cost a lot in trialling stains on test pieces? If not possible to match, is it possible to strip back the original stain and do it all as one stain? I have my doubts on the second question tbh but might be easier!
