Child custody

Currently going through divorce. Very slow process , it might take couple of years. Still living in the same house with husband. We have 2 kids. Long story short, I am terrified that if he moves out now before child custody has been decided in Court as part of the Divorce, he might take the kids away and not bring them…

Currently going through divorce. Very slow process , it might take couple of years. Still living in the same house with husband. We have 2 kids. Long story short, I am terrified that if he moves out now before child custody has been decided in Court as part of the Divorce, he might take the kids away and not bring them home and I have no right to report him. My question is can I apply for full child custody (with father having visitation rights) now separately to my divorce application? Would that process be any quicker? Thank you all.
