    Hi folks

Im looking for recommendations for a scanner to listen to aircraft out at Dublin airport. My son has special needs and he loves when I bring him out to watch the planes taking off and landing but he’d also love to be able to hear the pilots and tower. If you could recommend anything in the €60 / €70 area that would do the job that would be great … thanks.

Unless somebody has another idea for a hand-held sweeping scanner, would he use a phone (or two phones) and connect to LiveATC and listen there?

As you may see from the link there are 6 or 7 different frequencies used, but maybe he can focus on two or three of these as per his interest?

Are you aware of LiveATC? Since getting their phone app, my old scanners are just gathering dust. LiveATC is just so handy. I think it cost about €4 and has no subscription fee. It covers Dublin. Sorry to not answer your question directly, it’s must be 10 years since I bought my last scanner.

This might be fine for a single static frequency, but it's not going to enable listening to multiple such as with an airport.
