Challenge! Explain the formation of this rock.

    Here's an idea. Post up pictures of rocks and see if any one can explain their formation, processes, climate, age, possible location, etc.

    I'll get the rock rolling with this one... A conglomerate.

    Yes indeed. This sample found in the King's River valley, Co Wicklow. Presumably carried and dropped by the ice sheet.

    Formed 300 million years ago in Britain/Ireland which was then the delta of a massive river system that drained from Scandinavia.

    Here's the next one.

    These stones were picked out of glacial deposits in northwest County Wicklow.

    But what are they? How were they formed, and where did they come from?
