New car - Needs to be automatic

Hi all,

I had a Toyota Aqua, which was of course stolen (just discovered afterwards how often they are stolen) and now I need to get a new car.

I don't drive a lot at the moment, but my commute may increase next year.

My requirements:

Automatic car

Reliable

Economic (hybrid would be great)

Not too expensive to insure

Budget: 15k-16k max

Any cars that you recommend/don't recommend? I'm looking at a Yaris (hybrid, not imported) at the moment, but I'm not sure if it's good option.

I'd go with the Honda Fit/Jazz too over a Yaris. The Fit/Jazz has more interior space with clever rear folding seats and the cabin feels better finished.

Would the Fit/Jazz be as likely to be stolen as the Aqua? The Gardaí that registered the theft told me to avoid Japanese imports, but most hybrids come from Japan.

I also saw some Nissan Notes on Donedeal, but haven't heard anything about them

The only Jap imports that get stolen are Toyota Aqua & Toyota Vitz without keyless entry. Pretty much every other Jap import has an alarm & immobiliser like any other car. (Inc. Honda Fit)

We have a 2013 Honda Fit (jap import) with the 1.3 Hybrid engine, and I must say it is fairly robust. Interior is very roomy, due to its shape you can fit a lot in it once the seats go down. Doesn't make a lot of power but commuting it is fine.
