Malfeasance/misfeasance in public office

Curious to know who investigates allegations of mal/misfeasance in the public service? IS a Garda complaint made or how does it work. I assume the body complained of would not be willing to investigate itself.

You can't make such a complaint to AGS as no such offence exists here.

Malfeasance (US)/Misfeasance (UK) is a tort, not a crime. Here we used to have a common law offence of Misconduct in Public Office, but that is no longer the case.

Any complaints need to be directed to the body/organisation concerned, any further complaint then towards the appropriate ombudsman if one exists with oversight of the body/organisation.

are you sure it is a UK/US differentiation? Malfeasance is intentional conduct that causes harm. Misfeasance is lawful conduct that causes harm unintentionally. And you also have nonfeasance which is failure to act when one had a duty to act. The meanings for all three are common on both sides of the atlantic.

Malfeasance In Public Office is a US tort.

Misfeasance in Public Office is a UK tort.

Malfeasance or Misfeasance in Public Office is not an offence.
