Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Primary Teaching Colleges

Had a daughter got 498 in points today, munster based so this may not be good enough to get into Mary I but she applied to Dublin also ie Marino where she might have a chance of getting in.

To a novice parent like myself , how many colleges in Ireland do Primary teaching ( not the Hibernia route ) and would any/many from Munster end up in Marino or elsewhere and does it make any difference in 4 years time getting jobs back home in Munster ?

Apart from Marino and Mary I, there are only two options for the Bachelors. One is the Froebel College which is now located in Maynooth University and the other is DCU. Not training in Mary I won't affect her chances of a job in Munster. I don't know much about the DCU degree but Froebel has a great reputation.

Years ago, some principals preferred graduates from the college they themselves had attended. That no longer applies. The biggest issue with getting jobs in Munster is that there is traditionally a large number of teaching students from Munster so jobs are more difficult to find.

Fingers crossed for her 1st choice!

As it turns out she has got Marino and will be going there .

Spoke to a few teachers and principals around our way and they all seemed to know people whod trained in Marino working locally so no fear on that front they said. Shes got digs somewhere off griffith Avenue which was more reasonable than i had feared for Dublin so all set now after todays offer.

That's great news. The very best of luck to her.
