What is easiest way for a rookie to find out if a house is hooked up to mains or has a well?

Look for a external stopcock/meter housing (mains - well, someone could have fitted an external stop on a well supply)) or a power supply for a pump (well)

Turn off most electrical equipment and see how fast your meter runs. Then turn on your cold kitchen tap for 5 minutes to see if it speeds up.

Shouldn't be a need for the above. The equipment associated with a well pump would be obvious somewhere.

Please follow site and charter rules. "Resistance is futile"
