Arriving Dublin via Belfast by BUS. Passport Entry Stamp???

Hi, I will be visiting Dublin this Friday from Belfast by bus (I hold a valid Irish tourist visa) and I have been advised by Garda Station that I must present myself to Burgh Quay for entry stamp on my passport as soon as possible!! (because I come via the border with Northern Ireland)

I called the only phone number on Burgh Quay website and they said they only handle long-stay permissions and my tourist visa is not in their scope… I then called back to Garda Station, they said I must attend Burgh Quay because they take in charge of the immigration office in Greater Dublin Area…

I asked a friend in Dublin to ask Burgh Quay in person and the guard at the door stopped him and said anyone must have an appointment letter to enter. BUT, the Burgh Quay staff on the call refuse to give me an appointment because I’m short-stay and their email says they will try to reply me in 15 working days….

Wonder has anyone ever experienced these?? Because I will leave for London via Dublin Airport after my visit, I am particularly concerned about this (the lack of entry stamp)…. BUTTT, it is just that I cannot find anywhere to get my passport stamped!!!

There will have to be a record of you entering the country especially if you are Non-EU. I presume your passport will be stamped on arrival in Belfast. I think this might be sufficient but don't really know.

Hi - I am a student studying in the UK, so I have my BRP. But my UK entry stamp was long time ago.

Cuz, I am currently in Belfast... there is no direct flight between Belfast and Dublin.... You can only take train or bus.

1. Print off and retain copies of all your tickets. If you buy a ticket at the station / on the bus, take a photo of it.
2. There are sometimes immigration checks on buses and trains.
3. When you get to Dublin, go to Burgh Quay anyway and explain you just need your passport stamped.

I just came across this thread from the main page and decided to click in are they that strict that you need a passport stamped and what would a stamp vs no stamp mean?

I have no idea how strict they are but, generally, the government website says such nationals must attend Burgh Quay Registration Office or local Garda Statin to report their entry (get passport stamped) to the country if enter via the border with Northern Ireland. Principally, if you do not report an entry, you might be considered as illegally visiting I think...
