Can’t find wall-mounted clothes rails in Ireland

Hi folks, we’re currently converting a box room into a walk in wardrobe. Simple layout - have bought shallow-depth IKEA shelf units for folded clothes etc and want to hang rails for hanging clothing. Space is sparse and I want to make the most of it by having open rails instead of “closing in” the area with open wardrobes - which would have to be custom made, as there’s a slope in a section on the floor for the overhead clearance over the stairs below - typical Irish box room.

It’s a 2.8 metre wall, so obviously we can’t hang a single rail wall to wall without support. So I’m looking for simple wall-mounted brackets, that can be hung off the struts of the studded wall.

Sounds simple, you may say, but I can’t find them in Ireland!

Found exactly what I was looking for on a .ie website called displaysense but they’re a UK company not shipping to ireland any longer. Thanks to Brexit, anyone online isn’t.

Have any of you lovely people seen these anywhere in Ireland? They’re basically wall mounted brackets, like garden hanging basket or curtain rail brackets and you can hang as many as you like and run rail though them.

Thanks Faith, I had looked at the boaxel range originally but, as I just want rails, it seemed a bit overcomplicated a solution and I dismissed them. That way fair range looks great too and, if I can’t get simple brackets, I may well end up going back to that style 👍🏼

Just remembered exactly why I veered away from that style range - it’s a studded wall and I think we need to anchor the weight into the studs, which i can’t guarantee are going corner to corner of the wall at exactly 40cms apart, which is the size per bay of the boaxel range. To max out the space, I need to guarantee wall to wall rail. The joys of a small space!

You run piece of wood horizontal across the wall using slightly larger spacing to the railing mounts, screwed into the studs. You then mount the rails using hollow wall anchors, or large screws if they are over a stud. The piece of wood will spread the load across multiple studs and stop the plasterboard blowing out or the studs flexing too much.

Thanks Cuddlesworth, that might work well then - I think they’re 40cm bays and the wall is 2.8m so there wouldn’t be any wasted space, which is exactly what I’m trying to avoid. 👍🏼

Thanks fitzparker, was trying to avoid these types of rails as there fixed length and the bolting sections are wider than the hanging rail itself, meaning that, if you put two side by side, there’s a gap of “wasted” rail space between the two, if that makes sense. The only way to avoid that would be to stagger them one above the other which aesthetically wouldn’t be great. Plus the chances of getting a combo to make up the full 2.8m length of the wall is unlikely. These for instance are 1.1m so even using 2 of them would leave 0.6m of blank wall with no rail. Hence the individual brackets are great as you hang as many as you like to suit the span of your wall and the rail comes in lengths and you just cut it to fit.
