Looking for a sub 2k auto car for a learner. Do I even have options?

I was trying to look for a car for a learner friend. Do I even have options of auto cars 2009+ that's around €2000? I was thinking 2009+ for the sake of tax and insurance. The majority of the cars I find in Donedeal and Adverts have failed NCT.

Maybe someone can make their magic and help me find options? Thank you very much!

Done deal or Car zone are your best options and just keep looking until you see something that might suit !!

Keep on looking every day and move fast when you see something that you want. If it is decent and below the €2k mark then it will move quickly.

Am I not too mad trying to get a car that's semi-ok 2009+ for €2k considering the current market though? Is it a reasonable enough criteria or will I have to lower the target year?

Cars with small petrol engines don’t really get cheaper tax after 2009. A 2007 1 litre is €200 and a 1.2 is €330.

You could look at slightly older cars, my friend had no problem insuring a 2007 1.4 petrol for his first car.

Small automatic cars are always in demand due to low tax and insurance so prices really tend to stay strong, even more so in the current market. 2k really doesn't get you much in the way of one these days.
