Eggs For Dinner

I inherited a 1950's Jaeger LeCoultre watch a few years ago. I only decided to wear it recently and, unfortunately, it's not keeping good time. I'm told it was worn daily for over 50 years before it was given to me, so I presume the prolonged lack of use since then is the issue. Can anyone suggest where I can get it serviced in the Southeast or South Dublin area?

Sorry, don't know how to upload photos properly*. Hopefully you can see the attached. The story behind the watch is that my late uncle bought it in either France or Switzerland in the late 50s and wore it every day until he passed a few years ago.

I don't know if the face colour is how it should be or if it has aged and discoloured. I'm told it had a nice metal strap, but my uncle preferred a basic leather one. Any direction on the style of bracelet it may have come with originally would be appreciated. If I'm going to restore it, I'd like to do it properly.

Any suggestions on an insurance valuation would help

It sure IS A BIT TASTY.

The face does appear 'aged' ( discoloured) but it's present shade works well..... i would definitely NOT touch the face

Oh I agree. I wouldn't touch that face at all. It's earned that colour. New crystal, maybe source a JLC crown and that would be it.

I'd personally go with something like a black lizard leather job over a bracelet. Back in the fifties watches like this if they had bracelets(which was much more an American style at the time) tended to have ladder style and the like sort of like this
