Toilet Flush Mechanism question

Please see image below.

Arrow indicates a (new) piece of bent coat hanger wire connecting the lever arm down to the wire loop.

Every few months or so the wire loop rusts through and breaks. I get another hanger and shape another piece to do the job.

I am fed up doing this. What is the correct way to connect the lever arm to the suction part? Can I buy something that will last forever? !!! Name of part?

Does it come with some sort of attachment link for the lever?

Yes, if you can get the proper one. Otherwise tie it on with a string.
