tiger stripes - painted over wall paper paste

    Hi All

I see this is a common issue. We sanded and washed a few walls and thought we had got off all the wallpaper paste but having lashed on a primer and paint you can clearly see where the paste once was and now we have lovely 'tiger stripes' all over..

Can this be fixed without skimming or sanding? Anyone have any clever ideas?

I was looking at Polycells 3 in 1 basecoat.. but not sure that would act enough like a skim?

    Thanks.

Seeing as this was such a hot topic I thought I'd let you know that the simple answer was to wallpaper over with fibre liner. Back to a nice smooth surface.

Lesson learned for me was if your walls are in anyway shite don't agonise like I did with polyfilling and sanding and painting coat after coat. Just line them with fibreliner for a nice smooth canvas.

Lost months trying to sort walls.. don't know what I was thinking the answer was so obvious
