MyTrip.com and GoToGate.com - Has anyone used these Skyscanner recommended companies?

I recently booked a flight from Dublin to Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City (connecting via Paris) and back from Hanoi to Dublin (connecting via Heathrow) on Skyskanner. I took best connection option, which appears to be through an agent of sorts called MyTrip.com for first flight and GoToGate.com for second. Both appear to be affiliated and share contact number tel:+35314372539 & Finnish Company number OY SRG Finland AB, ID Org no. 1925453-7, VAT no. FI19254537 .

Has anyone used them before? I've just got notification that the 2nd connection from Paris to Ho Chi Minh has been rescheduled for 2 days past the original flight out of Dublin which won't work for us as we've already got plans for first day. I tried contacting and they've got no contact form, just the phone number. I rang and the 4 options to ring in do not work, it reverts in a loop. Then I read reviews (incl. one on here) and I'm really concerned that they are going to end up taking my money and I'll have to book with airlines again.

I've managed to get into queue on phone after mashing the number pad on my 3rd call to them. I haven't used an agent like this before. I assume it's not up to them if 2nd connection was cancelled, but is there some obligation for a refund? I want to just book with main carrier now and take hit on price because my plans are in jeopardy with no real guidance from company whether I can rebook the original flight.

When did you book your flights? Were they actually confirmed because what a lot of these shonky online operators do is 'request to book' and as they don't have live pricing, their fares are usually way below the airlines' prices and inevitably come back and say the fare has gone up. Do you have a PNR for these flights? Another trick they use is booking separate tickets which means your connections are not protected.

GtG and MyTrip and the like do not have what we call, customer service agents. I would do a cc chargeback. Did the notification give you an option to accept, decline or cancel?

As an aside, never a good idea to make plans for the first day (like a cruise, for example). What if the flight is substantially delayed?

Have not used either company myself. They do not have good reviews worldwide. But if registered in Finland you will have some comeback with the Finnish consumer authorities.I normally use Vayama on Skyscanner and I see Budgettair are advertising on Skyscanner-part of Budget Travel as far as I know in Dublin.Having a PNR is essential-proving your tickets were purchased.Might be worth trying to contact the 2nd leg airline to ask what's happened. On the return leg-have you allowed at least 2.5 hours between flights at Heathrow.Queues to go thru security/immigration will be enormous now-could be bad enough before the staffing crisis.

endofrainbow makes a point-relax the first day.Look out hotel window(if,your room has a window, haha),stroll around the area, eat street food.drink beer etc

I’ve used both of these. But I use them knowing if something goes wrong I’ve very little come back. One went out of business in 2019. The airline told me I’d a 50/50 chance my ticket still existed (if the money for mine had been transferred in time). I’d do the chargeback as has been suggested above. Revolut gave me my money back for a Covid era flight, when the airline wouldn’t. Might work.

Yeah I've used gotogate before with no issues, but I know that plenty others have. Reviews are not great, and wile they are generally cheaper they have sneaky charges around card charges, seat and luggage selection, support etc. They really are a case of "caveat emptor" - if you are saving 50 quid on a 1000 flight, maybe just pay the extra to book directly with the airline. If its substantially cheaper and you're happy to take the risk, then go for it.

Have used MY TRIP for flights to Las Vegas , flew with Aer Lingus and Alaska Airlines , no sneaky charges with luggage selection seats or card charges

350 cheaper than booking direct with Aer Lingus .

Not always true though.I have booked 2 long haul flights this year. One was cheaper direct with airline and another was 50 euro dearer.

Indeed but i never said it was always true though , obviously if its cheaper to book direct thats the way to go .

Personally use skyscanner for research only...never book with one of the sites..too many horror stories

Always wonder how a unbonded third party site can sell a flight cheaper than an airline itself.

    Very similar experience here.

Few years back used them for a flight to US.

    No issues at all.

I also got tickets booked with them for another flight to US in September.

Super competitive price comparing to Aer Lingus

Recently booked a trip to Toronto after searching on Skyscanner which turned out to be linked to e-travel.

As soon as the booking went through and I received a flight reservation number I checked with the airlines Manage my booking to make sure that it had all gone ok. It had.

I then used the same process to find a hire car for the holiday and Trip.com was the first one I tried. The booking didn't go through with this site as they said the Rental company no longer had this vehicle in stock. I then booked the same vehicle through qeeq.com and the booking went through no problem with the same supplier. I then checked the rental company site with the reservation number and all was good.

Luckily enough with the flights, it turns out that there is checked baggage included for the 4 of us even though the booking said there was no checked baggage. Saves me an extra couple of hundred that I thought I would have to pay to bring a checked case. So make sure you check your baggage carefully to ensure you don't pay for extra baggage when not needed.

As far as I know they buy them in bulk way ahead of the flight date and the airline gives a lower ticket cost which the third parties sometimes pass onto the customers. If the plane sells all its seat the third party can charge any price they want.

Incorrect unless it's a charter flight.

When you 'make a booking' you're actually making a request to book. As they dont have live pricing they invariably come back with a higher price.

How do you find Alaska Airlines?

Flying with them next month Austin-San Francisco (also a part of a Aer Lingus longer journey)

Found them to be fine , no problems whatsoever. Enjoy your trip .

Emailed their CEO after getting his email on twitter and have received refund

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,011 ✭✭✭endofrainbow

Glad you got sorted. What percentage of refund did you get and what did they refund you for?

Would have been less stress dealing with the airline than a shonky middleman.

I got full refund. Per their T&Cs they said they normally take €45 as service charge, but I'd documented over 30 emails and responses to their support team so they said as gesture of goodwill that they would not charge me. The airline probably sent money back months ago, I wouldn't be surprised if they'd got it accruing interest. LinkedIn/Twitter are going nuts about this company, I've had 20 messages since I said I got refund the other day. I made booking thinking the agent would guarantee some sort of extra protection, but it was the opposite. At least if I had booked two separate flights I wouldn't have got full refund for 2nd airlines moving it.

Nah it wouldn't be accruing interest if its any consolation. Refunds from airlines and other product providers go into a separate account.

Rock and a hard place: separate tickets or book with a shonky ota.
