    Hi

just looking for other peoples thoughts on the following, A close friend was knocked down by a van in the city last tuesday, she later called me, she was happy to be alive, and still in shock, the driver was turning left didnt see her cycling and clipped her, and she fell on to her bike, she knew she thought she hadnt broken anything and he had a first aid kit and helped her, a few people said they would be witnesses but she didnt want to make a fuss and the driver offered his details, she walked to work from there,

since then she has begun to feel shoulder pain and finally went for a xray fri and sat and has rotary cup damage and cant work for ten days,

She doesnt want to make a fuss as she has other things going on, but in case its a lasting injury,

should she contact the van company? the guards? is it now too late. .

she was also knocked off by a motar cyclist in a hit and run earlier this year.

    thanks

Contact the driver (or company), that's what their insurance is for. She did her best to downplay it which is admirable in some respects, but she also deserves to be compensated for the injury and missed work.

Obviously I don't know the circumstances of either this collision or the one before, but being knocked down twice in 8 months is unusual. Even though the blame for the left hook would lie with the van, you won't get left hooked if you don't cycle up the inside of vehicles at a left turn. I'm sure I'll be told that's the above is victim blaming, but it's just a reminder to do all that you can to avoid placing your life in the hands of an inattentive driver.

as a driver and a cyclist i would stay wel away from any car that seems to be turning, i think thats solid advice ! the other one was a delivery driver flying out from a corner not watching,or caring it seems
