Where is your ideal location if you were to have a holiday home abroad?

    What makes this place special?

Within 30 minutes of a direct flight link from Dublin.

    I wouldn't buy full stop.

I'd rent the best I could afford for month long breaks with all the luxuries. I would never spend as much that way as I would on a property abroad with all the responsibilities and charges, not to mention the worry of someone squatting or fire or flood damage and so on. Nope, life is too short.

BUT, the place I like most is the Carcassonne (Aude) region in France. Handy train line to Toulouse and Narbonne on the Canal du Midi, and a local train to the wine region of Limoux and Pyrenees area of Quillan. That would (is now, we go often), my no. 1 area.

Next would be Northern Eastern Spain near the French Border, along the Pyrenees.

Then South West France around Bayonne close to the Spanish border with access to San Sebastian.

    Just my 10c.

I’d buy and we are looking around San Sebastián in Spain. Less than an hour from Bilbao and Birratz. The place always has something on all year around.
