Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi I have a 2007 kia ceed crdi. When I put the car into reverse there is a grinding sound coming from the gearbox. Also when I have the clutch fully pressed and I put the car into gear it feels like the clutch hasn’t fully disengage the gears, if that makes sense. Are these two problems linked? Or are they two separate issues?

    thanks

    Check clutch fluid levels first.

Try to bleed next. Easy enough on this car, diy method works well. !!Youtube!!

Get someone to press pedal slowly while watching the pushrod from the slave cylinder. If there's any delay / lag / lack of movement, then change the slave cylinder first. Its cheap and easy.

However, how old is the existing clutch, how much use it gets, type of driving also will help diagnose the issue.

But it probably is the clutch ..!

Best way to check if it is the clutch is to put on the handbrake , put the car into gear and try to take off . Apply a bit of throttle and see if it trys to pull off . If the revs stay the same and the car doesnt move then the clutch is on its way out . Dont be afraid to let the car konk out it wont so it any harm .

As stated check the levels . Someone could have forgotten to replace gear oil after changing a clutch and the slave cylinders can fail .
