    Hi All,

Can anyone advise how easy it is to gain experience shadowing primary school teachers in Ireland? For context, I currently work in the private sector and am looking at switching careers into primary teaching and just looking for a few days experience in a primary school classroom to gauge if it's really what I want to do.

Would also appreciate if anyone has previous experience doing this and can advise on how they reached out to Primary Schools and whether there's any ways to help maximize opportunities that the schools will be responsive?

It’s a good idea to try and get some insight , but it’s not always that easy to get a place . It will definitely open your eyes to some of what teaching entails these days .

Most schools get a huge volume of requests for school placements, TY students etc. You’d probably be as well to contact a school which you attended as a student as a starting point .

One thing that may cause an issue is Garda clearance .

    Best of luck .
