Came across this lately, it has not been publicised enough. The EPA is currently accepting submissions on the licence for the ABP (Waterford Proteins) rendering plant in Ferrybank. Everybody in the city should be making a submission. When the wind blows from the north the stink can be terrible.

A development brought to you by Kilkenny County Council.

Absolutely, just inside the county boundary where they can collect the rates but pretend it is nothing do with them when there is a problem. “That is really Waterford” after all. I know for a fact people over there get told that by KCC when there is a problem.

If anyone has behind a truck driving to/from ABP on the Ferrybank DC they will attest to the horrendous stench of the "waste" being transported. How anyone could bear to eat meat ever again is beyond me!

It was originally built by Clover Meats on their land over 40 years ago. Kilkenny County Council in common with most Local Authorities turn a blind eye to these things.

Get your submissions in before the deadline.
