Importing car from Japan

    Hello

I am in the market to buy a 2015/16 Golf (1.2/1.4 tsi) and the prices I’m seeing are outrageous. Difficult to find a relatively low mileage one (100k kms) for less than 15k! I noticed a lot of cars dealers have are Japanese imports so had a look at t-cv.com to see how much it would cost to import a Golf from Japan.

Has anyone actually done this and is it safe? Have you used a third party to import? Is there anything to watch out for i.e. scams, hidden costs etc. Just seems too good to be true to be honest.

Why are Japanese cars so much cheaper? On average id say they around about 5k cheaper.

    Thanks

There’s already a thread on importing from Japan which explains everything.

If you want to save money then you should just buy from a private seller here to avoid waiting 3+ months.
