    Hi all,

    Title says it all really! I’m looking to rent a car/jeep/van with towing capacity of greater than 1,600kg for a few days a year. There are a few places that do this for long term contract hire but haven’t yet found one for personal use. Maybe it doesn’t exist but any suggestions / experience would be very welcome. I’m very flexible on pick up location.

    I have a BE licence so no issues there.

    Thanks in advance for any help.

    I tried to find a place that does this when my car was off the road earlier in the summer. None of the standard hire places have any, like Enterprise/Sixty. Found one or 2 places that rent out commercial jeeps with tow bars. Problem I hit with this was that you needed to have your own insurance to cover your driving and my insurance company wouldn't transfer my insurance to the car as it was commercial and it wasn't on the list of cars they would insure.

    Try the app join the fleet. It allows ordinary Joe soap to rent their cars out and some may happen to have a tow bar. There may be a Joe soap with a tow bar equipped car allowing you to hire by the day.

    You could also get a friend/ relation to sign up who have a tow bar and then hire from.them. they offer insurance by the day which is handy. There are a lot of dealers on the app which probably don't have tow bars.

    You don't mention where in the country

    Thanks all, I got sorted in the end here in Cork (but no joy with Great Island).

    @RosieJoe , where did you find those cars please?

    @zg3409 that’s a great app…I hadn’t seen that here before 👍🏻
