I'm starting with an assumption that may be wrong, in which case it invalidates the thread somewhat but..

The assumption is that only Ireland has RHD Opel cars.

If that is the case would it not make more sense to supply Vauxhall versions of the Astra, Insignia etc.

Malta, Cyprus and Japan do too but yes the market is so small we should all go Vauxhall or perhaps the UK should switch to Opel and retire the Vauxhall brand.

Vauxhall is still seen as a strong British brand associated with a long motoring heritage there even though they have been badge engineered Opels for a few decades. Only the Vauxhall Astra and Vivara van are build in Britain for the British market, the rest are built in Opel plants across Europe. So there is no advantage to changing Opel badges to Vauxhalls for the small Irish market just because we are RHD too.

Opel/Vauxhall are owned by the PSA group these days so most of them are based on Peugeot/Citroen platforms which are already engineered for RHD markets anyway so again no advantage from a cost or marketting point to switch Opel branding to Vauxhall in Ireland. Equally because of the heritage the Vauxhall brand has in the UK, it would make no scense to change it to Opel there.
